Reducing Poverty • Tackling Inequality • Empowering Communities

Community Cooperation Wales – CIC is proud to launch the Community Inclusion & Employability Hub (CIEH), a new programme designed to reduce poverty, exclusion, and inequality for disadvantaged communities across Cardiff and Wales.

This is a funded programme through the Equality and Inclusion grant – funded by the Welsh Government.

Every day, our team witnesses the barriers faced by people with protected characteristics – including discrimination, unemployment, limited access to rights information, and a lack of leadership opportunities. The CIEH project directly responds to these challenges by creating a safe, inclusive, and accessible hub where individuals can build skills, confidence, and long‑term opportunities.

Our Vision for the Community Inclusion and Employability Hub

The CIEH will be a welcoming space in Cardiff City Centre where people can access practical training, mentoring, rights awareness, and community‑led activities. Our goal is simple: to support people to thrive, participate fully in society, and access fair employment.

What the Hub Will Deliver

24 Workshops • Mentoring for 120+ Participants • Community Campaigns • Blended Learning

Over 12 months, we will deliver a structured programme that includes:

  • Employability workshops – CV skills, interview preparation, workplace confidence, and fair employment guidance.
  • Rights awareness sessions – empowering participants to understand and assert their rights in housing, healthcare, and employment.
  • Anti‑discrimination and inclusion training – building resilience, challenging prejudice, and supporting safety.
  • Leadership and civic participation mentoring – encouraging underrepresented groups to take part in public life.
  • Community‑led campaigns – designed and delivered by participants to raise awareness and drive change.
  • Blended learning – accessible in‑person and online options.

Location

The Community Inclusion and Employability Hub will be based at 5-7 Museum Place, Cardiff, CF10 3BD. There is:

  • Easy access by public transport
  • Nearby on‑street parking
  • A safe, central meeting point for diverse communities

Why This Project Is Needed

Our research, led by volunteers and community partners, highlights persistent inequalities across Cardiff and Wales:

  • Higher unemployment among minority and disadvantaged groups
  • Limited awareness of rights in housing, healthcare, and employment
  • Experiences of discrimination and hate crime
  • Underrepresentation in civic and public life

People with protected characteristics, including ethnic minorities, disabled people, LGBTQ+ communities, refugees, and those facing economic hardship continue to face systemic barriers. The CIEH is designed with and for these communities, ensuring relevance, accessibility, and long‑term impact.
